(3rd LD) 2 men stabbed at LG Electronics office in Seoul; suspect in custody

SEOUL, May 27 (Yonhap) -- Two men were stabbed Wednesday at an LG Electronics office in western Seoul, with the suspect currently in custody, authorities said.

The men -- one in his 50s and the other in his 40s -- were found stabbed on the second floor of the company's Magok business center in Gangseo Ward after a report was filed at 11:18 a.m., according to police and firefighting officials.

Both have been taken to hospitals with injuries to their arms and ribs, but neither was in life-threatening condition, they said.

The suspect fled the scene and was later apprehended near Digital Media City Station, police said. He claimed to have been heading to a police station to turn himself in.

During police interrogation, the suspect, an employee of a partner company, reportedly claimed he committed the crime out of sudden anger after being notified of his dismissal earlier that day. He alleged that the victims had repeatedly ignored and harassed him.

The victims have denied his claims, saying that they had merely requested the head of the partner company to reassign the suspect to a different duty because he had been struggling with the workload.

Police said they are currently considering whether to seek an arrest warrant for the suspect, adding that further investigation is required to determine the exact details as the two sides have given conflicting accounts of the incident.
