(LEAD) Wildfire on Mt. Bukhan in Seoul almost contained

SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Yonhap) -- A wildfire broke out on Mount Bukhan in Seoul late Saturday, but the blaze was almost contained some three hours after it started, officials said.

The fire broke out at around 7:25 p.m. on a ridge near the Hyangrobong peak of the mountain in central Seoul, according to firefighting authorities.

As of 10:10 p.m., the fire had been around 95 percent contained, having burned an estimated 165 square meters of land.

Fire authorities deployed 346 personnel and 29 firefighting vehicles to contain the blaze.

Authorities plan to investigate to determine the exact cause of the fire after completing work to extinguish the remaining embers.
