FM Cho proposes Brazil's cooperation to expand crude oil exports to S. Korea
SEOUL, March 26 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Thursday asked his Brazilian counterpart for cooperation to expand Brazil's crude oil exports to South Korea amid energy supply concerns due to the war in the Middle East.
Cho proposed that the two countries explore ways for such cooperation as he met Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira in France on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers' meeting, his ministry said.
Cho noted recent instability in crude oil and energy supplies as the two sides discussed the situation in the Middle East as well as bilateral ties.
Vieira also expressed hope for President Lee Jae Myung to visit Brazil soon following Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's state visit to South Korea last month, according to the ministry.
South Korea and Brazil are among the countries invited to this week's expanded G7 ministerial meeting.
