Lee asks for swift passage of key bills in meeting with DP leadership

SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung on Wednesday asked for the swift passage of key bills tied to his administration's policy agenda during a meeting with the new floor leadership of the ruling Democratic Party (DP), the party spokesperson said.

The remarks came during the dinner at Cheong Wa Dae with Rep. Han Byung-do, the newly elected DP floor leader, and other members of the party's floor leadership, Rep. Lee Ju-hee, the party's floor spokesperson, said in a written briefing.

"The president welcomed colleagues with whom he has weathered many political challenges and greatly congratulated the new floor leadership on its launch," the spokesperson said.

President Lee further asked the party to accelerate the passage of legislation related to the administration's key policy agenda during the second half of the year, according to the spokesperson.

In response, Han expressed appreciation for the president's push to advance three major national projects aimed at driving a new leap forward for the country and pledged to strongly support their successful implementation through the necessary legislation.

Other members of the floor leadership also praised the president and the government for their tireless efforts and notable achievements over the past year, Rep. Lee said.
