Defense chief inspects emergency readiness at front-line military unit

SEOUL, Feb. 15 (Yonhap) -- Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back on Sunday inspected contingency readiness at a military unit in charge of safeguarding the central border region facing North Korea.

"Thanks to your staying awake around the clock, the people can spend a peaceful holiday, trusting our military," Ahn told troops at a guard post of the Army's 25th Infantry Division, headquartered in the border city of Yangju.

The visit, Ahn's first to a border guard post tasked with keeping vigilance against the enemy, was aimed at boosting troop morale and inspecting their readiness amid the ongoing Lunar New Year holiday. He also visited other military outposts of the division.

"Maintain watertight readiness during the holiday to live up to the people's trust," the minister also told troops.
