S. Korea, Britain to upgrade relations to 'global strategic partnership'

By Lee Haye-ah

LONDON, Nov. 20 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Britain will upgrade their relations to a "global strategic partnership" on the occasion of President Yoon Suk Yeol's state visit to London, the presidential office said Monday.

The agreement will be part of an accord to be adopted by Yoon and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during their summit later this week, according to the office.

The new partnership is an upgrade from the current "broad and creative partnership" and calls for deepening bilateral ties in a wide range of sectors.
