SEOUL, May 11 (Yonhap) -- Hyo-jung, the leader of girl group OH MY GIRL, wished 2020 to be OH MY GIRL's year during a showcase for their 7th mini album "Nonstop." That wish soon turned out to become a reality.

After OH MY GIRL's title track, "Color Coded" became a hit, their B-side track, "Dolphin" also went viral, surpassing the ranking of "Color Coded" on the music chart. The two songs have become steady sellers and remained at the top of the music charts for more than a year after their release.

OH MY GIRL, who spent the best year since their debut last year, will return with a new album on the 10th. Following "Color Coded" and "Dolphin," expectations within and outside the music industry were high on what types of songs the girl group would release next.

Oh My Girl's Ji-ho said at the online showcase, "I was worried about the direction of where our group should be moving toward to," adding, "I wanted to show our bright energy to the audience like we did with 'Color Coded' and 'Dolphin' rather than making sudden changes in our music. I'm looking forward to seeing our upcoming song as another turning point for us."

Member Arin also said, "While it is true that many people loved our last album, we tried to focus on showing things that only our group could offer."

The title track of the girl group's 8th mini-album "Dear OhMyGirl", 'Dun Dun Dance' is a melodic dance song that suits OH MY GIRL and is also addictive to the ear. Mimi, a member of the seven-piece act, was unable to attend the showcase due to health reasons, but the rest of the group still put on a bright performance.

Seung-hee introduced their new song as "OH MY GIRL's dance pop that is addictive and makes you feel good just by listening to it."

YooA said, "We were able to highlight OH MY GIRL's advantage of being full of energy and having a bright smile on stage through this song. The killing point "Dun Dun Dance" is that everybody can easily sing along and dance together."

"Each member's voice is well-mixed into the album and title track. For those who got to know us better through our last album, I think this album will serve as OH MY GIRL's cover letter. We worked very hard to make this perfect song," said Ji-ho.

Just like the name of the album, "Dear OhMyGirl," the album reflects what each member wants to say to themselves.

"I'm emotionally attached to this album because we included a lot of our own colors and stories. In addition to the title track, the lyrics of other tracks remind me of the stories we've shared as a group while growing up," Hyo-jung added.

OH MY GIRL, who are considered as the icons of "late bloomers," spent a perfect spring season by making two consecutive hits from their last album.

Asked about the secret to their success, leader Hyo-jung said, "We slowly took things one step at a time. I didn't care if the stairs were low or high. We worked hard in our own ways and then we found a song that many people happened to like."

YooA also mentioned that "The process of believing in oneself and moving forward felt like a brilliant but cold winter' for me."

"Winter is cold but it's also a time when flowers manage to bloom through the snow. We had a lot of difficulties last winter, but we were steadily blooming during that time. I actually don't know if spring has come to us yet, however I still think I'm constantly trying to walk toward that happiness felt in spring," member Seung-hee explained.

When asked about what kind of growth they would like to see in the future as a group after spending seven years together, Seung-hee emphasized, "I want to hear people say that OH MY GIRL is pioneering their own path and moving forward."

OH MY GIRL's Binnie also said, "The members' understanding of music has changed, and compared to our debut album, we are becoming more involved in what we do and actively participate in it. I want to be a group that slowly moves forward like we are now."
