SPC wins approval for $160 mln bakery plant in U.S.

SEOUL, Feb. 3 (Yonhap) -- SPC Group, a South Korean food and beverage company, said Monday it has finalized plans to build a US$160 million bakery plant in Texas, the company's first production facility in North America, after acquiring approval from the local government.

The City of Burleson in Texas approved SPC's investment plans last week, along with the city government's subsidies for the facility, according to the company.

The plant will be located in Highpoint Business Park in Burleson, spanning 150,000 square meters. SPC plans to break ground this summer and complete construction in the second half of 2027.

The Texas plant is part of SPC's broader strategy to expand its business in North and Latin American markets.

Once operational, it will serve as a major production hub for supplying bakery products across the United States and exports to Canada and Latin America.

SPC has been expanding its global presence with the Paris Baguette brand since 2004, operating 600 stores in 14 countries.

The company currently operates a bakery plant in Tianjin, China, and is set to complete its second overseas plant in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

In North America, SPC operates 200 Paris Baguette stores across the U.S. and Canada. To meet growing demand, the company aims to increase that number to 1,000 locations by 2030.
