PM-youth housing
New PM stresses need for more youth housing
SEOUL, July 4 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Han Seong-sook on Saturday called for expanding housing options for young adults during a visit to neighborhoods near universities in Seoul.
Han, who took office earlier this week, toured an area where one-room apartments and student dormitories are concentrated to assess housing conditions for young people.
"Seeing the situation firsthand helped me better understand the difficulties young people face because of high housing costs," Han said. "It reinforced my belief that we need to expand the supply of student dormitories and affordable housing for young adults."
Han also said the government should hold discussions on measures that can be implemented quickly to ease the housing burden on young people.
The prime minister also stressed the importance of helping young people build their careers.
"We will make greater efforts to expand work-experience programs, including youth internship opportunities," she said.
