Forgiveness and reconciliation

Representatives from an organization of the families of the civilian victims of the Gwangju Uprising and an association of special forces veterans jointly pay their respect at a cemetery in Seoul on Jan. 17, 2023, for the special forces and police officers killed by civic demonstrators during the 1980 pro-democracy uprising. This marked the first time the bereaved families visited the cemetery to seek forgiveness and reconciliation. (Yonhap)
