Cannes Film Festival announces the final 9 members of the jury including actor Song Kang-ho

SEOUL, June 25 (Yonhap) -- The Cannes Film Festival officially announced the final nine members, including actor Song Kang-ho, as the jury for the 74th Cannes Film Festival next month.

The Cannes International Film Festival appointed American film director Spike Lee, as well as other directors and actors working in seven different countries as the final judges. The selected members will judge 24 films for the film festival.

Apart from Song Kang-ho, French actor Tahar Rahim, who starred in "The Kindness of Strangers," and "The Mauritanian," French actor-director Melanie Laurent of "Night Train to Lisbon," and  "Now You See Me," as well as American actress Maggie Gyllenhaal of "The Kindergarten Teacher," and "Frank" will participate as the judges.

In addition, actress-film director Marti Diop, French singer-songwriter Mylene Farmer, Austrian director Jessica Hausner and Brazilian
director Kleber Mendonça Filho were also listed as judges.

Song is the fifth Korean to become a member of Cannes' jury, following director Shin Sang-ok, director Lee Chang-dong, actress Jeon Do-yeon and director Park Chan-wook. The actor also starred in director Han Jae-rim's "Emergency Declaration," which was put to the out of competition section of the film festival.

This year's Cannes Film Festival will be held in Cannes, a resort town in southern France, from May 6-17.
