Burns ranks 44th place with first PGA Tour Win

SEOUL, May 3 (Yonhap) -- Sam Burns of the U.S. made it to the top 50 in the world with his first win on the PGA Tour.

 

Burns ranked 44th in the men's golf world rankings announced on Thursday. It is up 50 notches from 94th last week.

 

Burns also set a career-high ranking record as he won his first Valspar Championship at the Innisbrook Resort Copperhead in Palm Harbor, Florida.

 

Rankings 1st to 10th in the world remain unchanged: Dustin Johnson (USA), Justin Thomas (USA), Jon Rahm (Spain), Xander Schauffele (USA), Bryson DeChambeau (USA), Collin Morikawa (USA), Patrick Reed (USA), Tyrrell Hatton (England), Webb Simpson (USA), and Brooks Koepka (USA).

 

Viktor Hovland (Norway), who tied for third at the Valspar Championship, ranked 11th in the world rankings, raising expectations for a top 10 spot.

 

Lim Sung-jae (23), who ranks the highest among Korean players, remained in 19th place. Kim Si-woo, 26, fell two notches to the 50th place in the world rankings.
