SEOUL, May 13 (Yonhap) -- "When I signed with P Nation, I felt confident. I'm still a rookie, but I was able to gain confidence."
Rapper D.Ark, who ranked third in the fourth season of Mnet's survival hip-hop TV show, "High School Rapper," will release his first mini album "GENIUS" after signing a contract with P NATION founded by singer Psy.
Last December, when D.Ark turned 16, he joined agency P NATION, which currently manages artists such as Swings, Crush, Jessi, Heize, Hyuna and Dawn.
During an online showcase on the 13th, the release date of his album, D.Ark said, "As the youngest member of P Nation, I think I want to be motivated and work hard on my music."
"In this album, CEO Psy personally directed the album and helped me to create witty lyrics. There's a part where we rap and suddenly sing together. We laughed a lot while working together."
Apart from Psy, many singers who were acquaintances with D.Ark participated in the album.
Rapper Changmo, who played as D.Ark's mentor in "High School Rapper 4," featued in the title track, while L and Roh Yoon-Ha, who appeared on the same program, reunited with D.Ark on "FEEL MY FEEL." The track 'BAD KID' features rapper Swings.
D.Ark, who is drawing attention in the hip-hop world, named his album "Genius" and the lyrics of the title song of the same name also look confident enough to express his talent by comparing it to a genius.
"I think I'm a genius as soon as I write a song, but I don't think I'm the next day. I repeat this process," he added. "The title song contains the content of casting the spell 'I'm the best' whenever I feel this lack."
Having just taken his first step as an artist, he expressed his aspiration to be a "source of inspiration" for everyone.
"I want you to find out my musicality through 'Genius'. I don't want to be complacent or impatient. I want to play a lot of good music for you. My goal is to become an artist who is loved for a long time."
