Police to wrap up probe into G-Dragon's alleged drug use soon, summon Lee Sun-kyun again

SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Yonhap) -- Police plan to wrap up an investigation soon into allegations of drug use by G-Dragon of K-pop group BIGBANG, an official said Monday, amid speculation over whether police will drop the case or push to charge him.

"The investigation is at its final stage," Woo Jong-soo, chief of the National Office of Investigation, told reporters. "We will wrap up the investigation swiftly and announce the results."

Police launched the investigation into suspicions that the singer used drugs at a bar in December last year, based on a statement from a hostess at the bar. But all drug tests on him turned up negative, including a detailed narcotics analysis on his hair and nail samples.

Despite the results, a senior police official told reporters last month that all possibilities remain open and that it is "not right" not to charge him just because of the test results, if it is apparent from various circumstances that he used drugs.

Meanwhile, police said they plan to summon actor Lee Sun-kyun again over drug use suspicions.

Lee has been accused of using marijuana and other illegal drugs at the home of a hostess working at a high-end bar in Seoul's Gangnam district on multiple occasions since early this year.

Lee also tested negative in a brief reagent test conducted by the police, and the results of thorough drug tests on his hair samples, conducted by the National Forensic Service on two occasions last month, also came back negative.

"We will review bringing in Lee after the investigation of the blackmail case proceeds further," said Woo, adding the exact date of the summons was not clear. Lee filed a complaint against the hostess in October for consistently blackmailing him.
