Controversial park for late communist composer

Members from the conservative Liberty Unification Party hold a rally in Gwangju, 267 kilometers south of Seoul, on Aug. 28, 2023, to voice their objection to a project to build a park for Chinese revolutionary musician Jeong Yul-seong (1914-1976). Jeong had composed the military anthem for the People's Liberation Army of China and a marching song for the North Korean People's Army. Born in Gwangju, Jeong was naturalized in China in 1956.
