New frigate named after N. Korea-torpedoed warship
A ceremony to launch the 2,800-ton frigate Cheonan, named after a warship torpedoed by North Korea, takes place at a naval base in Changwon, about 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, on May 19, 2023. The original 1,200-ton Cheonan sank near the western inter-Korean maritime border in March 2010 after a North Korean midget submarine fired a torpedo at it, killing 46 sailors aboard. The bereaved family members of the victims and surviving sailors attended the ceremony. The Navy provided this photo. (PHOTO NOT FOR SALE) (Yonhap)
