SEOUL, Aug. 27 (Yonhap) -- Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Jin Yong-sung visited an Air Force fighter wing and an Army missile unit Thursday to inspect defense readiness and encourage troops, the JCS said.

While visiting the units, Jin emphasized the need to maintain "overwhelming capability and readiness" to swiftly launch counterstrikes in the event of enemy provocations, according to the JCS.

Jin also called on service members to substantially boost combat capabilities through realistic training and enhance operational execution to earn public trust, the JCS added.
