National maritime safety center dedicated

This photo, taken Dec. 7, 2023, shows the National Maritime Safety Center that opened near Paengmok Harbor on Jin Island on South Korea's southwest coast. The dedication of the center, which will provide visitors with programs on responses to earthquakes and other disasters, as well as maritime safety, came after the 2014 deadly sinking of the Sewol ferry that claimed more than 300 lives, mostly teenagers on a school excursion.
