SEOUL, April 13 (Yonhap) -- A delegation of foreign envoys to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will visit South Korea later this week for talks on defense industry cooperation, North Korea and other shared issues, the foreign ministry said Monday.

The delegation, representing 31 countries, will make a three-day trip to Seoul through Wednesday, as South Korea and NATO are deepening their partnership amid Russia's war in Ukraine and the North's evolving nuclear and missile threats.

Foreign Minister Cho Hyun is scheduled to meet the delegation on Tuesday, ahead of a briefing session by Jeong Yeon-doo, vice foreign minister for diplomatic strategy and intelligence. Cho will host a dinner reception for the delegation.

"There is a growing interest in the Korean Peninsula and Indo-Pacific issues at the NATO level, hence an unprecedented number of 31 will be present," a ministry official said.

The delegation also plans to visit an industrial site in South Korea to see firsthand defense-related capabilities of South Korean companies, the ministry said.
