Defense ministry stresses readiness posture, political neutrality in meeting of key audit officials

SEOUL, March 26 (Yonhap) -- The defense ministry on Thursday convened a meeting of senior audit officials across the military and underscored the importance of maintaining a firm defense posture and political neutrality.

Vice Defense Minister Lee Doo-hee presided over the regular meeting, attended by some 40 audit officials of the defense ministry, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other military branches, according to the ministry.

In the meeting, Lee urged utmost efforts for maintaining a firm military readiness posture in the face of a rapidly changing security environment.

He also stressed the importance of political neutrality ahead of the June local elections and called for vigilance against safety accidents, the ministry said.
