SEOUL, Sept. 10 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean won declined against the U.S. dollar Thursday, led by a jump in global crude prices as fighting escalated between the United States and Iran in the Middle East.
The won was quoted at 1,339.2 won per dollar at 3:30 p.m., down 3.1 won from the close of the previous stock trading session.
Brent crude futures, a global oil benchmark, hovered above US$100 per barrel as new exchanges of attacks between the U.S. and Iran in the Middle East fueled global oil supply concerns.
Also, traders kept a watchful eye on the upcoming U.S. inflation data.
Foreigners bought a net 2.4 trillion won (US$1.8 billion) worth of local stocks during the latest trading session, while the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index fell 0.25 percent to close at 7,033.92.
