Japanese beer imports on surge
A customer picks up an Asahi canned beer at a convenience store in Seoul on March 7, 2023. According to the customs service, the country's imports of Japanese beer brands stood at US$2 million in January, up 314.49 percent from a year before and the highest since Japan imposed export restrictions on its semiconductor materials to South Korea in July 2019, when the figure posted $4.34 million. The restrictions resulted in a massive boycott of Japanese products in the country. (Yonhap)
