Court sentences ex-spy chief Cho Tae-yong to 1 1/2 yrs in prison in perjury trial

SEOUL, May 21 (Yonhap) -- A Seoul court on Thursday sentenced former National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director Cho Tae-yong to 1 1/2 years in prison for committing perjury while testifying before the Constitutional Court.

The Seoul Central District Court handed down the sentence for Cho, who had been indicted on charges of perjury and other offenses, following his testimony at the Constitutional Court that he had not received martial-law related documents from former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
