WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating how a North Korean remote information technology (IT) worker got a job at a U.S. federal agency, a report said Tuesday, underscoring the growing risks posed by Pyongyang's IT worker scheme to the U.S. government sector.

According to Federal News Network, a U.S. media outlet, Todd Hemmen, deputy assistant director of the FBI's Cyber Capabilities Branch, told a forum last month that the FBI recently identified a North Korean remote IT staffer working for the U.S. federal government.

S. Korea, U.S., 38 other countries call for advance notice of ICBM, SLBM launches in joint statement

WASHINGTON -- South Korea, the United States, Japan and 37 other countries issued a joint statement Tuesday calling on countries to provide sufficient advance notification of launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) and space launch vehicles (SLVs).

The statement came after China carried out a surprise launch of an SLBM into the open waters of the Pacific on July 6, drawing criticism from the U.S. and other countries. The countries did not mention China by name in the statement.
