President Lee pledges to resolve N.K. abductee issue through dialogue

SEOUL -- President Lee Jae Myung on Sunday vowed to make efforts to resolve the issue of South Korean citizens abducted by North Korea during the 1950-53 Korean War through "dialogue and cooperation."

"The government will not allow the issue of abductees to be buried in history," Lee said in the message read by Vice Unification Minister Kim Nam-jung on his behalf at an event marking the Korean War Abductees Remembrance Day in Paju, north of Seoul.

S. Korea says closely coordinates with U.S. after belated disclosure of N.K. missile launch

SEOUL -- South Korea said Monday it is maintaining close coordination with the United States on North Korea's missile launches, after criticism arose over its delayed announcement of the North's latest launch.

The North's state media said Friday that North Korea conducted tests of a new multiple rocket launcher and other key weapons the previous day, a launch that was overseen by its leader Kim Jong-un.
