Ex-Trump official predicts Trump-Kim summit could take place this fall

SEOUL -- A former Trump administration official predicted Wednesday that U.S. President Donald Trump could meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for a summit sometime this fall, citing Trump's continued indications of interest in resuming dialogue with the reclusive leader.

Fred Fleitz, a former chief of staff of the National Security Council under the previous Trump administration, made the remarks as speculation persists that Trump and Kim may resume dialogue around the time when Trump visits China for summit talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, in May.

Belarus to open embassy in N. Korea by Aug. 1: report

SEOUL -- Belarus will open its embassy in North Korea by Aug. 1, a Belarusian news report said Thursday, adding the plan is part of President Alexander Lukashenko's visit to North Korea last month.

A resolution outlining the plan was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin in the fulfillment of the president's instruction following his official visit to North Korea, the Belarusian news agency Belta reported.

N. Korean, Chinese FMs hold talks in Pyongyang on strengthening ties: report

SEOUL -- The top diplomats of North Korea and China held talks in Pyongyang on Thursday and discussed strengthening bilateral relations, according to a Chinese media report.

In his talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Beijing stands ready to work with Pyongyang to further strengthen bilateral relations, according to Xinhua News Agency.
