(2nd LD) N. Korea fires short-range ballistic missiles toward East Sea

SEOUL -- North Korea fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on Tuesday, South Korea's military said, in Pyongyang's apparent military muscle-flexing ahead of its upcoming key party congress.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it detected the missiles launched from an area north of Pyongyang at around 3:50 p.m.

S. Korea condemns N. Korea's missile launch, urges it to cease provocations

SEOUL -- The presidential Office of National Security on Tuesday condemned North Korea's latest ballistic missile launch as a violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions and urged Pyongyang to immediately cease provocations.

The office convened an emergency security meeting with military officials shortly after North Korea fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea.

Minister says probe into drone incursion focuses on acts by 'remnants' of Yoon gov't

SEOUL -- Interim results from an investigation into a drone infiltration alleged by North Korea will be released soon, the unification minister said Wednesday, suggesting the probe focuses on possible involvement by "remnants" of the former Yoon Suk Yeol government.

Unification Minister Chung Dong-young made the remarks at a parliamentary committee meeting as a joint military-police investigation is under way into the alleged drone infiltration into North Korea.
