Lee set to host banquet with foreign ambassadors at Cheong Wa Dae
SEOUL, June 23 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung was set to host a banquet dinner with foreign ambassadors stationed in South Korea on Tuesday to brief them on the outcome of his recent trip to Europe.
Ambassadors from 118 countries with embassies in South Korea were invited to the event, which will be held in the main garden of Cheong Wa Dae, along with around 30 international organization chiefs, including Moroccan Ambassador to South Korea Chafik Rachadi, dean of the diplomatic corps in Seoul, according to the presidential office.
During the dinner, Lee plans to brief the guests on the outcome of his trip to Europe that ended last week and outline his foreign policy direction in the second year of his five-year term that began June 4, 2025.
The presidential office said Tuesday that sitting at the head table will be the Moroccan ambassador, along with envoys from the United States, Japan, the Philippines, New Zealand, Mongolia, China, the European Union, the Vatican and Chile.
Cheong Wa Dae made the seat assignments in consideration of regional representation, as well as countries that the president has visited or plans to visit this year.
The main menu of the event will feature popular Korean dishes, including fried chicken paired with beer and grilled pork belly, or "samgyeopsal," the office said.
