SEOUL, July 14 (Yonhap) -- Princess Anne, the younger sister of Britain's King Charles III, visited HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.'s shipyard in the southeastern city of Ulsan on Tuesday to review South Korea's shipbuilding capabilities and discuss bilateral maritime cooperation, the company said.

The visit came as part of the princess' three-day trip to South Korea with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

During the visit, Princess Anne met with HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Ki-sun, who introduced the company's advanced shipbuilding technologies and its partnerships with British firms.

The companies include Rolls-Royce, which supplies the MT30 gas turbine used in South Korea's next-generation frigates, and Beaufort, a supplier of submarine crew survival equipment.

Chung described Britain as "a special partner" that played an important role in the early development of the Korean shipbuilder and pledged to further expand cooperation with the British shipbuilding and maritime industries, according to the company.
