Seoul asks P'yang to give prior notice on dam discharges

Unification ministry spokesman Koo Byoung-sam announces a statement at the government complex in Seoul on June 30, 2023, officially requesting North Korea give prior notice on its opening of dams bordering South Korea as the Korean Peninsula has entered a monthlong rainy season. Six South Koreans were killed in September 2009, when the North released a massive amount of water from its Hwanggang Dam into the Imjin River without prior notice. (Yonhap)
