LIG D&A opens photo exhibition to commemorate sacrifices of Korean War veterans
SEOUL, June 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korean defense firm LIG Defense & Aerospace (D&A) Co. said Tuesday it has opened a photo exhibition to honor the sacrifices of war veterans who fought in the 1950-53 Korean War.
The exhibition, which kicked off Friday, will run through July 12 at the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul, according to the company.
Under the theme "Remember, Respect, Reconnect," the exhibition will feature pieces by photographers Rami, who captures Korean War veterans in the country and abroad, and Shin Jung-hwan, who photographed surviving Korean War veterans in France, Britain and Turkey.
Rami, who is the grandson of a Korean War veteran, leads a project dubbed "Project Soldier," where he records stories of the Korean War veterans through photography and film.
This exhibition includes work Rami began in New Zealand in March in collaboration with LIG D&A, where he documented the war veterans and their families.
Shin, a photographer based in Paris, displayed photographs of Korean War veterans on traditional Korean paper, also known as "hanji," to show respect for the sacrifice they made for South Korea's freedom.
"As (the company) marks the 50th anniversary of its founding this year, it is particularly meaningful that we are able to honor and remember the heroes whose dedication helped build the South Korea of today," Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shin Ick-hyun said.
