Shamanic ritual on Jeju Island

This photo taken on March 13, 2025, shows a shamanic ritual, "Yeongdeungsongbyeolje," being staged at Chilmeoridang Shrine in the city of Jeju on South Korea's largest resort island of the same name. The ritual, part of the UNESCO-designated "Chilmeoridang Yeongdeunggut" festival, is held every year on the second lunar month's 14th day to send off "Yeongdeunghalmang," the goddess of diving women and fishermen who visits the island every year on the second lunar month's first day.
