S. Korea, Thailand to step up cooperation in honoring Korean War veterans
SEOUL, Nov. 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Thailand have signed an agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation in better honoring Thai veterans of the 1950-53 Korean War, Seoul's veterans ministry said Wednesday.
Under the memorandum of understanding signed in Seoul by Veterans Minister Kang Jung-ai and her Thai counterpart, Gen. Detnitit Luangngamkum, the two sides agreed to work together on policy development, medical services and exchange for veterans and their descendants, the ministry said.
Thailand was the second country after the United States and the first in Asia to deploy ground troops to the Korean War, with a total of 6,320 Thai soldiers serving in the three-year conflict.
