S. Korea discusses cyberthreat response with U.S., Japan, other like-minded nations
SEOUL, May 21 (Yonhap) -- The foreign ministry said Thursday it held a cyber deterrence meeting with partner nations to discuss ways to strengthen international cooperation against growing cyberthreats driven by emerging technologies.
The annual Like-minded Cyber Deterrence Group meeting took place in Seoul earlier in the day, bringing together around 70 officials and experts from more than 30 countries, including the United States, Britain, Japan, Canada, Australia, the European Union and Singapore, according to the ministry.
The participants shared their experiences and views on cyberthreat trends, the impact of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), and ways to strengthen joint responses to cyberthreats.
They exchanged opinions on measures to enhance resilience and cooperation across the broader cyber ecosystem, while emphasizing the need for intergovernmental cooperation through U.N.-led global mechanisms for establishing norms in cyberspace, the ministry said.
