UNC deputy commander hosts NATO delegation's visit to JSA this week

SEOUL, April 17 (Yonhap) -- The deputy commander of the United Nations Command (UNC) has hosted a delegation of permanent representatives to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) at the Joint Security Area within the Demilitarized Zone separating the two Koreas, the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said Friday.

Lt. Gen. Scott Winter held an orientation session Wednesday at the JSA for the delegation, aimed at helping enhance their understanding of the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, according to a release posted on the command's website.

The participants discussed deepening military ties between North Korea and Russia, and Pyongyang's direct support of Moscow's war efforts against Ukraine.

"The visit comes as UNC marks its 75th anniversary, a milestone that underscores the enduring importance of the Armistice framework and the collective resolve of the 18 UNC member states," it said, referring to the Armistice Agreement that ended the 1950-53 Korean War.
