Main opposition party's deepening division

A group of former lawmakers and local government heads belonging to the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) holds a news conference at the National Assembly in Seoul on Jan. 15, 2024, announcing their departure from the party in protest against the DP leader Lee Jae-myung's "undemocratic" party management. They declared their affiliation with Lee Nak-yon, who also recently left the party to establish a new political party ahead of the April general elections. (Yonhap)
