Presidential office mulls visit with hospitalized opposition leader
SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) -- Senior presidential officials are considering visiting opposition leader Lee Jae-myung at the hospital on behalf of President Yoon Suk Yeol as he recovers from a knife attack, a presidential official said Thursday.
Lee of the main opposition Democratic Party was stabbed in the neck by an assailant during a visit to the southeastern city of Busan on Tuesday and has since been hospitalized following an operation at Seoul National University Hospital in Seoul.
"We have plans to visit Chairman Lee to convey President Yoon Suk Yeol's well-wishes on his behalf," the official told Yonhap News Agency, adding, however, that Lee needs absolute rest and his condition will be their top consideration.
"We plan to find an appropriate time and coordinate the visit."
