SEOUL, June 14 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy group
iKON will be the second idol band from YG Entertainment to join Weverse, a fan
community platform created by HYBE.
Weverse will be opening a community space for
iKON at noon on June 21st, according to the boy group's agency YG Entertainment
on Monday.
This is the second time that a YG idol group has joined Weverse since boy group
Treasure joined the fan community platform in March.
YG Entertainment and HYBE (formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment) formed a
strategic partnership in January and decided to cooperate in various business
areas such as fan platforms, distribution, and contents.
YG Plus, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment, currently distributes albums and
music of Big Hit artists, while YG is able to launch their artists globally
through Weverse.
iKON, who debuted in 2015 with "My Type," produced a number of hit
songs such as "Love Scenario" and "Killing Me," and
recently participated in Mnet's boy group performance competition program
"Kingdom: Legendary War."
YG Entertainment is currently releasing behind-the-scenes content of iKON in "Kingdom:
Legendary War" on SNS channels such as YouTube, and it will also be
pre-released on Weverse in the future.
Weverse is a fan community platform run by Weverse Company, a subsidiary of HYBE,
with community spaces for both local and foreign artists. On Monday, girl group
Everglow was reported to have joined Weverse.
