SEOUL, July 16 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating slipped to 55 percent, a biweekly poll showed Thursday.
In a National Barometer Survey conducted from Monday to Wednesday, the positive assessment of Lee's job performance fell 3 percentage points from the previous poll, while his negative assessment fell 1 percentage point to 34 percent.
The same poll showed that support for the ruling Democratic Party fell 4 percentage points to 38 percent from the previous survey, while that of the main opposition People Power Party stood at 22 percent, up 2 percentage points.
On the government's plan to establish an integrated military academy of the Army, Navy and Air Force, 55 percent of the respondents opposed the proposal, while 34 percent supported it.
The proposal has drawn criticism from some armed services and the PPP, which argue that a combined institution would weaken overall military readiness.
The survey was conducted by pollsters Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research and Hankook Research on 1,000 people aged 18 and older.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
