Bridge for Dano fest closed off amid heavy rains

A bridge set up for the Dano festival in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, about 170 kilometers east of Seoul, is closed to the public on June 20, 2026, as heavy downpours cause water levels to surge. Dano is a traditional Korean holiday marked on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month that celebrates the end of the spring sowing season and welcomes the start of summer with rituals wishing for a bountiful harvest.
