Ahead of anniv. of 1960 pro-democracy revolution

Sohn Hak-kyu, former chief of the now-defunct minor opposition Bareunmirae Party, burns incense to pay tribute to late democracy fighters buried at the April 19th National Cemetery in Seoul on April 18, 2023, one day before the 63rd anniversary of the April 19, 1960, pro-democracy revolution. The day commemorates students' movement against the autocratic rule of then President Rhee Syng-man after the discovery of massive rigging of the presidential election. The uprising forced Rhee to eventually resign. (Yonhap)
