SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) -- Dolby Atmos, a surround sound technology that allows people to experience three-dimensional sound, can be heard through Naver's music platform, VIBE, in Korea.

Global video and sound entertainment companies Dolby Laboratories and VIBE announced to officially release the Dolby Atmos Music service in Korea.

Dolby Atmos Music allows users to listen to music with Dolby Atmos technology on VIBE, which is the first domestic music platform to officially provide this service.

Dolby Atmos is a technology that accurately places and transmits sound according to movement within a three-dimensional space, including the overhead space. People are able to experience a sense of immersion as the sound is delivered from all directions.

VIBE currently serves more than 500 songs produced by Dolby Atmos and aims to provide more than 2,000 songs within the year.

It plans to release a wide range of world-class label songs, including ones from K-pop girl group BLACKPINK and band Leenalchi.

In particular, the Dolby Atmos version of BLACKPINK's live album will be released exclusively on VIBE in time for the launch of the service. The album consists of a live soundtrack of BLACKPINK's  online concert "YG Palm Stage - 2021 BLACKPINK: The Show," which was held on January 31st.

"Through listening to the members' voices and the sound of the band in a cleaner state, we are pleased to give fans a chance to listen to BLACKPINK's music as if they were in an actual concert," said the K-pop act's agency, YG Entertainment.

"With the introduction of the service, we will be able to enjoy an evolving music appreciation experience," said Lee Tae-hoon, the leader of Naver Music Service.

Dolby Atmos Music service is available through Android devices and no additional charge will be made until the end of this year for users who have a VIBE account.

Meanwhile, Dolby joined hands with recording studio and audio label, Audio Guy Records, in order to open Dolby Atmos Music Studio in Seocho-dong for the first time in Korea.

Choi Jung-hoon, CEO of Audio Guy Records, commented, "With the opening of the studio, we hope to widen the scale of music expressed by Korean artists and record producers."
