SEOUL -- South Korea is considering the deployment of special forces for security operations inside the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas, in response to North Korea's restoration of demolished guard posts along the border, sources said Friday.

The South's military is reviewing the move in line with efforts to restore operations at its dismantled border guard posts, as the North is known to have effectively rebuilt the guard posts it had demolished under a 2018 inter-Korean military accord.

SEOUL -- North Korea dismantled a fire station built with the South Korean government's budget at the Mount Kumgang resort on the North's east coast last month, the unification ministry said Friday.

The ministry in charge of inter-Korean affairs voiced "strong" regret over North Korea's "unilateral" removal of the South Korean government asset at the scenic mountain resort and warned of possible legal actions.

Unification ministry to install artwork symbolizing N.K. abductees at Seoul festival

SEOUL -- The unification ministry in charge of inter-Korean affairs said Thursday it will install an artwork inspired by three forget-me-nots at an upcoming garden show in efforts to raise awareness of South Koreans being held in North Korea.

In February, the ministry disclosed an image of three forget-me-nots as a symbol for South Korean abductees, detainees and prisoners of the 1950-53 Korean War to draw people's attention to the long pending issue in hope of their safe repatriations.
