Donation campaign tops target

The "thermometer of love," which goes up by one degree whenever 1 percent of the target donations is collected as part of a nationwide charity event, at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul reaches 103.9 C on Jan. 12, 2026. The Community Chest of Korea, which has conducted the two-month charity campaign from Dec. 1, 2025, said thermometer rose above 100 C the previous day, when the campaign achieved the target of 450 billion won (US$306.33 million).
