S. Korea marks anniv. of 1980 pro-democracy uprising

Incumbent Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon (L) of the main opposition People Power Party and Chong Won-o of the ruling Democratic Party -- the candidates for the mayoral race in the June 3 local elections -- place flowers during an annual ceremony at City Hall in the capital on May 18, 2026, to mark the 46th anniversary of a 1980 pro-democracy uprising in the southwestern city of Gwangju.
