World Blood Donor Day marked in N. Korea

North Korean officials and blood donors attend an event at the National Blood Center under the public health ministry in Pyongyang on June 16, 2026, to mark World Blood Donor Day that fell on June 14, in this photo released by the North's official Korean Central News Agency the next day. The World Health Organization has designated the day to raise awareness about the critical need for safe blood and plasma and to thank voluntary, unpaid donors for their life-saving gifts.
