Preliminary candidate registration begins for local elections

A mayor aspirant submits his application for registration as a preliminary candidate for the June 3 local elections at an office of the National Election Commission in Incheon, west of Seoul, on Feb. 3, 2026, as preliminary candidate registration began the same day for the elections that will pick the posts of mayor and governor in 17 metropolitan cities and provinces, along with superintendents of education, chiefs of smaller administrative units and local council members.
