U.S. military in S. Korea stages fast rope drills as part of Freedom Flag exercise
SEOUL, May 6 (Yonhap) -- The U.S. military stationed in South Korea has conducted fast rope drills and target acquisition training as part of the Freedom Flag exercise, the 51st Fighter Wing said Wednesday.
The unit affiliated with the 604th Air Support Operations Squadron, 7th Air Force, staged the six-day drills from April 21-26 at Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, some 60 kilometers south of Seoul, according to a release uploaded on Osan Air Base's website.
The drills involved moving through mountainous terrain to track targets and relay critical data to the 607th Air Operations Center in charge of U.S. air operations within the Korean theater.
The Freedom Flag, which ran from April 10-24, is a combined exercise between South Korean and U.S. air forces designed to enhance readiness through realistic, complex training scenarios.
