SEOUL, Sept. 29 (Yonhap) -- Actor Gu Sung-hwan has been named a PR ambassador for the "Net Zero" campaign aimed at reducing carbon emissions to curb climate change, the Presidential Commission on Climate Crisis Response said Tuesday.

Gu, who appears on MBC TV's "I Live Alone" show, was selected as the Net Zero ambassador because his image of finding happiness in everyday life fits the campaign's goal of reducing carbon emissions through small changes in everyday lives, the commission said.

The actor will appear in the commission's TV commercial set to be released in November to promote the campaign.

"I think I was given this meaningful role as many people liked the ordinary life that I shared," Gu said. "By carrying out what I can do in my own life, I will do my part to help more people feel that carbon neutrality is within reach and join the effort."
