Lee's approval rating rises to 63 pct: poll
SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating rose to 63 percent this week, led by positive assessments of his economic policies, a poll showed Friday.
The survey by Gallup Korea, conducted Tuesday through Thursday on 1,003 respondents aged 18 and over, showed that the positive assessment of Lee's overall performance gained 5 percentage points from the previous week.
The negative assessment fell by 3 percentage points to 26 percent, while 11 percent said they were undecided.
Lee's economic policies were cited most frequently as the reason for a positive evaluation at 16 percent, followed by real estate policies at 11 percent and diplomacy at 10 percent.
Among the negative responses, concerns over the slowing economy and real estate policies stood at 15 percent each, followed by diplomacy at 9 percent.
The pollster said respondents showed mixed responses to Lee's real estate policies, including his plan to end an exemption from the heavy capital gains tax for owners of multiple homes in May.
The approval rating for the ruling Democratic Party increased by 3 percentage points to 44 percent, while that of the main opposition People Power Party fell by 3 percentage points to 22 percent.
